Poker Boy Band: Nick Carter

The blond, blue-eyed teen dream heart-throb from the Backstreet Boys was at The Palms Hotel and Casino Resort in Las Vegas for the LG All Star
Poker Showdown, which took place in the hotel's mega-swanky Hardwood Suite, where he was joined by her ex-flame, Paris Hilton, only to find himself bested at the poker table by Danny That 70's Show Masterson.

As you may or may not know, depending on your age and gender, the youngest member of The Backstreet Boys, hunky Nick Carter, is back with the band and is now entering the acting arena after virtually growing up onstage in front of millions of adoring fans.

As a member of the Backstreet Boys he helped sell over 60 million albums worldwide, and has enjoyed success as a solo artist, with his first solo album, Now Or Never, debuting in 2002. More recently, Nick's team of racing boats, Nick Carter Racing, won its category in the OS Worlds in Daytona, Florida.

About Nick Carter: As one of the Backstreet Boys, singer Nick Carter became an international superstar during the mid-'90s as his band became one of the best-selling teen pop bands in history. He starred in various commercials and participated in countless talent shows as a child. By the time he was a teenager, he left the public school system for a home-schooled environment so he could focus on being a performer.

Nick Carter became the youngest member of the Backstreet Boys upon their formation in 1992. A tour of Europe catapulted the boys into fame by 1994 and the young Carter was elated.

Moreover, Nick Carter's television appearances include Sabrina the Teenaged Witch, Arthur, American Dreams, 8 Simple Rules For Dating my Teenaged Daughter, and My Crazy Life. His film credits to date include a fleeting appearance as a neighborhood kid in the cult classic Edward Scissorhands (1990) and a starring role in The Hollow (2004), a modern update of the classic Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow story. He is currently filming The Brew with Amanda "Pulp Fiction" Plummer and Brad "Deadwood" Dourif.

His downfall appeared when he was struggling with alcohol and drugs, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter knew he had a problem. But nothing could make him stop for more than a few months at a time – not a DUI, a bar brawl, or even his ballooning weight, which reached 224 lbs.

After experiencing mild chest discomfort and fatigue on while on tour with his band in Europe last spring, Carter scheduled a series of tests with a Florida cardiologist.

Faced with the realization that his life depended on getting sober, Nick Carter made a decision: "I don't want to die,I don't want to be that person people read about and think, 'That's sad that he couldn't stop it and killed himself.”
